Sleep Talking
What is Sleep Talking, or somniloquy?
Sleep Talking is a parasomnia that describes what the patient is doing just by its name alone. If this person has a bed partner, this can be quite disturbing, or even illuminating in some cases. Patients may talk incoherently, or, in other cases, as clearly as if they were wide awake.

This can also be a feature related to sleepwalking, sleep terrors (also known as night terrors), or even sleep related eating disorder (SRED).

How is Sleep Talking treated?
For the most part, Sleep Talking is harmless...unless you share a bedroom with the person who does it all the time. A sleep study, or polysomnography, may show Sleep Talking occurring in various stages of sleep.
